If you’re looking for teen anxiety therapy in Roswell, GA, you may be noticing changes that are hard to put into words. Your teen might seem more irritable, withdrawn, overwhelmed, or constantly worried even if they’re still “doing fine” on the outside. School pressure, social stress, perfectionism, and overthinking can quietly build until anxiety starts running the show.

At Kind Heart Counseling, I offer teen anxiety therapy in Roswell for adolescents who feel stuck in their heads, hard on themselves, or unable to slow down. Therapy here is gentle, relational, and focused on helping teens feel safer in their bodies and more confident navigating everyday life.

What Anxiety Can Look Like in Teens

Anxiety in teens doesn’t always look like panic attacks or obvious fear. Many teens I work with are high-achieving, sensitive, or deeply self-aware and they often struggle silently.

Teen anxiety may show up as:

  • Constant worrying or “what if” thinking

  • Perfectionism or fear of making mistakes

  • Avoidance of school, social situations, or extracurricular activities

  • Irritability, shutdown, or emotional overwhelm

  • Trouble sleeping or relaxing

  • Physical symptoms like stomach aches or tension

Parents often sense something is off but aren’t sure how to help without making things worse. Therapy can offer a neutral, supportive space where teens don’t have to perform or explain everything perfectly.

Anxiety Therapy for Perfectionistic and Overthinking Teens

I specialize in working with teens who feel pressure to get everything right, keep it together, or meet high expectations even when it’s costing them their wellbeing. Many of these teens struggle with self-doubt, people-pleasing, or feeling like they’re never doing enough.

In teen anxiety therapy, we focus on:

  • Understanding how anxiety shows up in the body and mind

  • Learning to recognize “real” vs. “tricky” danger

  • Building emotional awareness and flexibility

  • Practicing self-compassion instead of self-criticism

  • Developing coping tools that actually fit for teens

Sessions are collaborative and paced intentionally. Teens don’t have to know exactly what they’re feeling because we work on figuring it out together.

A Compassion-Focused, Nervous-System-Informed Approach

My approach to teen anxiety therapy is grounded in compassion, mindfulness, and nervous system awareness. Rather than trying to eliminate anxiety, we work toward helping teens relate to it with more understanding and less fear.

I utilize different therapeutic modalities including:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy

  • RO-DBT–informed strategies

  • Mindfulness and body-based awareness

  • Creative and experiential interventions

This approach is especially helpful for teens who feel overwhelmed, emotionally guarded, or stuck in cycles of overcontrol and self-judgment.
