If being hard on yourself worked, it would have worked by now.”

Hi, I’m Chelyan McComas

Licensed Professional Counselor in Roswell, GA

I’m a calm, compassionate therapist who believes healing happens when you feel seen, understood, and supported exactly as you are.

I work with teens, college students, and adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, self-doubt, comparison, or the pressure to “keep it together.” My approach is warm, grounding, relational, with a bit of creativity. I aim to provide the kind of therapy where you can take a deep breath, slow down, and actually feel safe.

“The beauty of who you are is not where you are perfect. It is where you are brave.”

I’m drawn to this work because I understand what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, to overthink, to care a lot, and to try to hold everything together. Those years shaped me into a therapist who values softness, humor, calm energy, and real connection. In our work, you get to slow down, be honest, and feel supported as you make sense of what’s going on inside.

I chose the name Kind Heart because kindness has always been one of my core values, even in times when it felt hard to offer it to myself. I believe that most of us move through the world with such tender hearts, caring deeply and absorbing so much of the world around us. Therapy can be a place to allow yourself to come home to that softness. The hummingbird in my logo represents lightness, hope, and the small moments of courage it takes to keep moving forward, even when life feels heavy.

My Values as a Therapist

At the heart of my work is kindness, especially to yourself. I believe:

  • You don’t have to earn rest, care, or compassion.

  • Your sensitivity is not a flaw… it’s a strength.

  • You deserve support that feels calming, steady, and real.

  • Therapy should feel like a relationship, not a performance.

  • Healing grows from self-connection, not pressure.

In our work, we move at your pace by building insight, emotional awareness, confidence, and a sense of safety in your own body and mind.

My Approach

My approach pulls from cognitive behavioral therapy, RO-DBT, and mindful self-compassion. I use parts of each modality that helps you understand yourself more clearly and feel a little more grounded.
Together, we’ll look at the patterns that keep you stuck, work on decreasing the self-criticism and shame, and help you move through the world with more ease.

  • I believe therapy works best when it’s rooted in research and flexible enough to support you in your real life. My training has shaped how I show up for clients, with a focus on compassion, intention, and practical understanding. I especially love working with folks who are neurodivergent, dealing with more than one diagnosis, or are caught in the cycle of overthinking and overcontrol. I know what it’s like to live with a busy mind and the pressure to hold everything together.

I receive ongoing training in the following evidence-based modalities and treatment approaches, which I thoughtfully integrate into my work:

    • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

    • Radically- Open DBT (RO-DBT)

    • Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT)

    • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

    • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

    • Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)

Reaching out for therapy can feel intimidating, but you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.
Whether you’re a teen learning who you are, a young adult juggling too much, or an adult trying to quiet your inner critic, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
