FOR PRE-TEENS & TEENS
Teen & Adolescent Therapy
Serving Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, Sandy Springs, and East Cobb
I provide in-person therapy for teens in Roswell and Alpharetta who are struggling with anxiety, low mood, body image concerns, and intense self-pressure even when they appear “fine” on the outside. Many of the teens I work with are thoughtful, high-achieving, and hard on themselves, and they often keep their struggles hidden until things feel overwhelming.
What Anxiety, Depression, and Body Image Struggles Can Look Like in Teens
Anxiety, depression, and body image concerns often overlap in teens and don’t always look obvious. Parents may notice changes even when their teen is still doing well in school or staying busy with activities.
These struggles may show up as:
Constant worrying, overthinking, or fear of making mistakes
Perfectionism, harsh self-criticism, or never feeling “good enough”
Irritability, withdrawal, or emotional shutdown
Low motivation, fatigue, or loss of interest in things they used to enjoy
Body image struggles, comparison, or preoccupation with appearance
Avoidance of school, social situations, or activities
Physical symptoms such as stomach aches, headaches, or trouble sleeping
Parents often sense that something is off but aren’t sure how to help without pushing too hard or saying the wrong thing.
A Compassion-Focused, Nervous-System-Informed Approach
My approach to teen therapy is grounded in compassion, mindfulness, and developing nervous system awareness. Many teens struggling with anxiety, depression, or body image are highly self-aware and overcontrolled. They tend to think deeply, feel things intensely, and often try to manage distress by pushing harder or shutting down.
Rather than trying to “fix” teens or force change quickly, therapy focuses on helping teens:
understand their thoughts and emotions
feel safer in their bodies
develop flexibility instead of self-criticism
I integrate evidence-based approaches tailored to teens, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to work with anxious and depressive thought patterns
RO-DBT–informed strategies for perfectionistic, emotionally guarded, or overcontrolled teens
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support teens in noticing thoughts without getting stuck in them and moving toward values aligned decisions
Compassion-Focused Therapy to build self-trust and reduce harsh self-talk
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to gently reduce avoidance, reassurance-seeking, and mental checking
Mindfulness and body-based awareness to support emotional regulation
Creative and experiential interventions which allows for flexibility and to connect more meaningfully with therapeutic skills
Because Growing Up Is Hard…
My goal is to walk alongside your child and your family through the ups and downs, not as someone with all the answers, but as a steady presence while you find your way forward.
In therapy, we create space to build self-awareness, develop coping skills, and begin trusting your inner voice again. This work is especially supportive for teens who tend to show up as “fine,” take time to warm up, or feel pressure to hold everything together.
I offer neurodivergent-affirming, compassionate care grounded in a strengths-based, person-centered approach. Depending on your teen’s needs, sessions may include conversation, mindfulness, creative or experiential activities, or skills practice that supports emotional regulation, self-understanding, and connection. You can learn more about how I work with anxiety and depression, body image concerns, or teen therapy groups below.
Therapy isn’t about quick fixes or becoming a different version of yourself. It’s about understanding what emotions are trying to communicate and learning new ways to respond with compassion instead of criticism. Over time, this work helps teens feel more confident navigating life’s challenges and more at ease in their own skin.

Anxiety & Depression Support for Teens
Anxiety and depression can make everyday life feel exhausting for teens. Many struggle with constant worry, low motivation, emotional overwhelm, or a sense that they’re never doing enough.
Therapy for teen anxiety and depression focuses on helping teens:
understand how thoughts, emotions, and stress interact
build coping skills for overwhelm and avoidance
develop emotional awareness and flexibility
reduce self-criticism and the constant pressure to be perfect
Support is collaborative, paced intentionally, and focused on helping teens feel more capable and confident navigating daily life.
Body Image & Self-Worth
Body image concerns are common during adolescence and are often closely tied to anxiety, perfectionism, comparison, and a desire to feel in control. Teens may feel preoccupied with their appearance or struggle with how they feel in their bodies.
I take a weight-neutral, compassionate approach to body image work that helps teens:
build a more respectful relationship with their body
reduce comparison and appearance-based self-worth
understand how stress and emotions impact body image
develop coping strategies that don’t rely on control or avoidance
This work is centered on helping teens feel safer and more comfortable in their bodies, without the pressure to change it.
Teen Therapy Groups
In addition to individual therapy, I offer small therapy groups for teens focused on anxiety, perfectionism, emotional awareness, body image, and connection.
Groups provide a supportive space for teens to:
✦ realize they’re not alone
✦ practice coping skills alongside peers
✦ build confidence and emotional awareness
✦ experience connection in a low-pressure environment
Groups are thoughtfully structured and informed by evidence-based approaches, including CBT, RO-DBT, ACT, and compassion-focused therapy. Groups are offered throughout the year, with details shared as they become available.
